💡 The quick answer
Limey is the official mascot of Lime Light Hair & Beauty Products: a fun-loving, young-hearted, adventurous lime with a passion for hair, beauty and nails.
You will know him by his hair: big, bouncy, wind-tunnel green and somehow perfect in every situation, including underwater and in outer space.
His big dream: a good hair day for every single person in South Africa.
His arch-enemy: Professor Frizz, a grumpy rain cloud with a terrible plan.
His motto: "Stay zesty!"
Grab some popcorn, dim the lights and keep your hair inside the ride at all times. Our story is about to begin...

Who is Limey?
Limey is a lime. Not a lemon. Not a gooseberry. Definitely not a tennis ball (although he did once win a tennis match by accident). He is Lime Light's mascot, best friend and number one fan: a little green ball of sunshine who believes every salon, spa, barbershop and nail bar deserves to feel fabulous.
He is curious about everything, brave about most things, kind to absolutely everyone and only a tiny bit clumsy. He smiles all the time, runs everywhere at full speed and has never, in his whole life, had a bad hair day. Well, almost never. We will get to that.
Where did Limey come from?

Nobody knows exactly how Limey's hair got so big. The butterflies say it was the rainbow. The rainbow says it was the butterflies. Limey says it was "a really, really good conditioner and a lot of believing in yourself".
What we do know is this: one sunny morning, a breeze carried a whisper across the meadow. It spoke of a magical place full of colour, shine and sparkle, with shelves stretching all the way to the ceiling. A place called Lime Light. Limey packed his bag (one comb, three snacks, zero plans) and ran there at full speed. He has never left.

What is Limey's big dream?
Every hero has a dream, and Limey's is a big one: a good hair day for every single person in South Africa. Every client who walks out of a salon should feel the way he feels every morning: fresh, fabulous and ready for an adventure. It is a big job for a small lime. Luckily, he has very big hair.
Does Limey have an arch-enemy?

Every hero needs a villain, and Limey's is Professor Frizz: a grumpy little rain cloud who hides in humidity, lurks in steamy bathrooms and cackles at every sudden summer storm. His plan is to turn every sleek blow-dry in the land into a puffball. He has never once succeeded, because Limey always arrives in time with a yellow umbrella, a smoothing shampoo and a heroic amount of shine serum.
And so our hero set off on his greatest adventure of all: finding his way home...

Why does Limey love Lime Light?
Lime Light is Limey's happy place, his headquarters and his home. It is where he gets to be surrounded by his favourite things: hair colour in every shade, the shiniest gel polish, the comfiest salon chairs, the fluffiest towels and, most importantly, the friendliest people in the business.

His favourite spot of all is the Lime Light Super Store in Sandton, the largest showroom of its kind in South Africa for dedicated wholesale hair and beauty products. Limey says it is "like a theme park, but with more shampoo". He has a favourite aisle (all of them), a favourite shelf (the top one, he cannot reach it, he just likes knowing it is there) and a favourite sound: the happy beep of a brand-new trade account being approved.
But the moment Limey loves most happens quietly. It is when a nervous young stylist walks in with a dream, a shopping list and a brand-new trade account, and walks out a little taller. Limey always gives them the same advice: "Big dreams need big hair. And a really good blow-dry." Then he waves until they are out of the car park.
| Limey's Lime Light | Why he loves it |
|---|---|
| The Super Store, Sandton | The biggest playground in hair and beauty. He has never seen the end of it. |
| The branches | Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban: more places to say hello. |
| limelighthb.co.za | Shopping in his pyjamas at 2am. Living the dream. |
| The brands | From Gelish to Parlux to ANESI LAB, Lime Light is the home of ANESI and a whole family of favourites. |
| The people | Reps, trainers and teams who love salons as much as he does |

What are Limey's favourite Lime Light products?
Every hero has a secret hideout, and Limey's is a very special cupboard at the back of the Super Store. Inside is his secret stash: the products he swears by, the ones South Africa's salons buy again and again. He let us in on one condition: "Do not tell the peacock."
Every badge on his shelves tells you just how popular each product is with South Africa's salons. Limey checked them all himself. Twice. With a magnifying glass.
💡 Limey's big discovery
The single most-bought item in the whole of Lime Light is the Depilève Aloe Vera Wax Cartridge. Not a hairdryer. Not a chair. A little green wax cartridge. Limey says green things are just naturally popular.
The second most-bought item? Soft pressed cotton pads. "Small, soft and everywhere," says Limey. "Like a cloud with a job."

Ask Limey why these are his favourites and he will answer with one of his famous Limey-isms:

What does Limey get up to all day?
Limey's days are busy. Very busy. Here is a typical one, according to his diary (which has a lime on the cover and a very worn-out "urgent" sticker):

| Time | What Limey is doing | Zest level |
|---|---|---|
| 06:59 | Realising the alarm did not go off. Again. | Medium (rising fast) |
| 08:00 | Coffee in one hand, plans in the other, hard hat for no reason | High |
| 10:00 | Replying to 147 emails, every single one with a smiley face | High |
| 13:00 | Lunch. Do not disturb. This burger is a meeting. | Recharging |
| 16:59 | Racing the clock to get every last order out the door | Maximum |
| 17:00 | Task complete! Victory dance (two minutes, minimum) | Off the charts |
| 20:00 | Movie night with extra popcorn and a face mask | Cosy |
| 23:00 | Just one more email. Then another. Then another. | Running on hot chocolate |

Is Limey sporty?
Is the sky blue? Is the grass green? Is Limey green? Yes, yes and very yes. Limey has tried every sport known to fruit, and his hair has never once lost its bounce. His coaches call him "unstoppable". His physio calls him "a lot".

ℹ Limey's training tip
"Lifting 5L bottles of backbar shampoo counts as a workout. Two bottles counts as leg day. Three bottles and you are basically a superhero."

Who are Limey's best friends?
Limey makes friends wherever he goes. It is impossible not to: he waves at everyone, compliments everybody's hair (feathers and fur included) and always shares his snacks. On his travels he has met a lion with a mane almost as magnificent as his own, a giraffe who can reach the top shelf he never can, a parrot who will not stop saying "Stay zesty!" and a peacock who is, to this day, still not over the fact that Limey's hair got more compliments.

The chameleon changes colour more often than a colourist's Instagram, and the flamingo once convinced Limey that pink was the new green. It lasted exactly one afternoon.

What wild animals has Limey met?
Limey keeps a wildlife diary, written in green pen, naturally. In it he records every animal he has ever met, how they did their hair (or feathers, or fur, or scales) and whether they were impressed by his. So far, the answer has been yes every single time, except for the peacock, who is still pretending not to notice.

ℹ From Limey's wildlife diary
Tuesday: a giraffe bent all the way down to say hello. I told her she had lovely eyelashes. She asked about RefectoCil.
Wednesday: the kingfisher sat perfectly still for three hours. I lasted four seconds.
Thursday: the peacock opened his tail again. I opened my hair. It was a draw. (It was not a draw. I won.)
Has Limey visited any magical places?
Some of Limey's favourite places are not on any map: a grove of glowing crystal mushrooms, a planet with flowers that hum, and a secret forest where the fireflies spell out his name. He says the trick to finding them is simple: "Follow the sparkle."

Where in the world has Limey been?
Everywhere. And then a little bit further. Limey has swum with turtles, ridden a seahorse chariot, explored jungles, conquered the big city and floated through outer space on the back of a crystal whale. He packs light: one comb, one spray, one big smile and an emergency snack.

Fun fact: Limey is the first lime in history to achieve zero-gravity volume. Mission control said his hair was "visible from Earth".
Does Limey love the outdoors?
Rain or shine, Limey is out there. Summer means sandcastles and cannonballs, winter means scarves and campfire stories, and every season means a sneaky check of the weather forecast for any sign of Professor Frizz.

ℹ Limey's weather forecast
Today: sunny with a 100% chance of zest.
This afternoon: scattered showers of Professor Frizz. Carry an umbrella and a smoothing serum.
Tonight: clear skies, perfect for star gazing and a face mask.
Hair outlook: magnificent, as always.

What does Limey like to wear?
Limey has a look for every occasion, and his wardrobe is bigger than his hair (which is saying something). Black tie for gala nights. A detective coat for mysteries, mostly the ongoing case of the missing hair tie. A wizard's hat for magical makeovers. A cape for rescuing bad hair days. And a lab coat for when he is mixing up something brilliant.

His style rule? "Wear what makes you smile. And always, always accessorise with confidence."

Is Limey creative?
Very. He plays the piano, guitar, saxophone, violin and laser harp, he DJs on weekends and he paints. His art teacher says he uses "a lot of green". Limey says that is called "having a signature style". His music teacher says he plays "with a lot of feeling". Limey says thank you. The neighbours say nothing, because they are wearing earplugs.

What are Limey's hobbies?
When he is not saving the world one hairstyle at a time, Limey is clever, curious and just a little bit competitive. He once played chess against himself and still demanded a rematch.

| Limey's chess record | Result |
|---|---|
| Games played | 47 |
| Games won | 46 |
| Games lost | 1 (to himself, and he still wants a rematch) |
| Puzzles finished | All of them, except the one with the missing piece (it was the hair tie) |

How does Limey relax?
When the adventuring is done, even the zestiest lime in the world needs to recharge. A hammock, a hot chocolate, a good mystery novel and a little mountain-top meditation. He calls it "self-care". The team calls it "Limey is not answering his phone again".

Why does Limey love hair, beauty and nails so much?
Because when you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you can do anything: surf a wave, climb a mountain, ride a space whale or finally reply to all 147 emails. For years, everyone asked Limey the same question: "How do you look this good?" At last, he has agreed to spill the zest.
