💡 The quick answer
The original: Leo J. Wahl filed his patent in 1919 for the first practical electric clipper with the motor in the hand. Wahl has led professional grooming ever since.
Built for barbers: the 5 Star Series (Magic Clip, Senior, Legend, Detailer, Vanish) is the standard in barbershops around the world.
A tool for every job: bulk removal, fading, skin fades, line-ups, beards and finishing.
New technology: brushless motors and Adaptive Speed Control in the Senior 2.0, Vapor and Vapor Switch.
Kept cutting: Lime Light is an authorised Wahl service and repair centre, with genuine blades, foils and parts in stock.
What is Wahl?
Wahl is the company that made the electric hair clipper practical. In 1911, a young Leo J. Wahl in Sterling, Illinois began experimenting with a vibrating electromagnetic motor. On 14 October 1919 he applied for patents on his electromagnetic hair clipper: the first practical clipper with the drive motor in the hand, instead of connected to a separate motor through a flexible shaft. By the end of 1920 his factory had sold thousands of clippers to barbers across the United States.

Today Wahl employs more than 4,000 people worldwide and is a leader in professional and home grooming. Its professional range, Wahl Professional, is built around what barbers actually need at the chair.
Why do barbers choose Wahl?
1. Designed with barbers from day one
From his earliest years, Leo Wahl worked directly with barbers to improve his clipper. That approach still shows in every 5 Star tool: the taper levers, the blade designs and the balance in the hand.
2. Blades that fade for you
Wahl's patented Stagger-Tooth blade on the Magic Clip helps erase lines of demarcation for smoother fades. The Legend uses a Wedge blade with an extended lever for a longer blend range, and the Vapor has the F32 Fadeout blade with 32 fine, ball-pointed teeth.
3. Power for every hair type
From classic electromagnetic motors like the V9000 and V5000 to rotary motors and the new 8,000 RPM brushless motors with Adaptive Speed Control, which adjusts power to hair density and texture, Wahl clippers cut through thick, coarse and textured hair.
4. Cord or cordless
Most of the range now runs corded or cordless. The Cordless Magic Clip runs for up to 100 minutes, the Hi-Viz trimmer up to 135 minutes and the Vapor up to 2.5 hours (Wahl figures).
5. One system for the whole station
Clippers, trimmers, shavers, dryers, blades, guides, charging stations and care products all work together, and the Wahl Power Station charges up to three cordless 5V Wahl tools at once.
6. Service and spare parts in South Africa
A clipper is only as good as its blade. Lime Light is an authorised Wahl service and repair centre and stocks genuine replacement blades, foils, batteries and guides.

Which Wahl trimmer is best for line-ups?
The Detailer is the barber's classic: its extra-wide T-Wide blade covers more area for faster, crisp lines. For more visibility, the A-lign has a narrow T-blade and a 7,000 RPM motor, and the Hi-Viz has a slim neck for intricate lines and designs. The new ColorStyle Duo switches between a T-blade (0.2mm) for sharp edges and a U-blade (0.4mm) for blending and beards.

💡 Barber Combo
The Barber Combo pairs the Cordless Magic Clip with the Detailer: one box for fading and line-ups. Combos make up about a fifth of the Wahl tools we sell by value.
Which Wahl shaver gives the closest finish?
The 5 Star Vanish Shaver has an independent suspension system, so the cutting bars move to follow the contours of the head, face and neck, with pop-out foil bars for easy maintenance and over 100 minutes of cordless runtime. We also stock the Launch Shaver, and two Wahl barber dryers: the 5 Star Barber Dryer (2,200W, chrome finish) and the quiet Vanquish, with an LED display, memory function and auto-clean.

Which Wahl for which job?

Here is what South African barbers buy from us. Clippers lead, with trimmers and combos close behind:

How do I look after my Wahl clippers?

- Brush hair out of the blade after every client.
- Disinfect with Wahl Clini-Clip spray to clean and protect the blade.
- Oil the blade with a few drops of Wahl Clipper Oil and run it for a few seconds. Our customers buy more Wahl Clipper Oil than any other Wahl product.
- Charge cordless tools on their stand or the Power Station at the end of the day.
- Replace blades and foils when they start to pull, and book a service if the motor sounds or feels different.
⚠ Zero-gapping
Adjusting a blade to zero gap gives an ultra-close cut, but set it carefully: a blade set too close can cut the skin. If you are not sure, ask us to set it for you.
