What are the biggest trends for summer 2026?
We rounded up what the world's beauty editors, colourists and nail artists reported from the summer 2026 season, then matched every trend to the professional products we stock. The good news for South African salons: these looks arrive just in time for our December to February summer and the festive season rush.

Hair trend 1: why is everyone asking for soft-melt blonde?

Hard root lines are out. Summer 2026 blondes are creamy, blended and luminous: champagne, beige and golden-creme shades that melt softly from root to end. Colourists suggest a weekly purple treatment to keep them bright.
Hair trend 2: are copper and strawberry reds still in?

Yes, and warmer than ever. Think strawberry-gold, sun-washed copper and amber auburn, often with copper highlights for extra glow. Reds fade fastest, so aftercare is part of the service.
Hair trend 3: what is espresso brunette?

Deep, glossy browns in rich espresso, golden-flecked "French brunette" and cooler, smoky tones. The finish is all about shine.
Hair trend 4: sun-kissed bronde and gloss

Dimensional, hand-painted colour that mimics natural sun exposure, sitting between dark blonde and golden brown. Many colourists finish with a gloss for extra shine, and suggest a refresh every six to eight weeks.
Hair trend 5: which haircuts are trending for summer 2026?

The "It Girl" lob with a subtle face-frame, the bixie (part bob, part pixie) and a bold 1970s revival: feathered Farrah layers, the short tapered Afro (TWA) and shaggy pixies. Lived-in texture is the common thread.
Hair trend 6: pops of colour

Pastel lavender, teal and rose gold are back for a playful summer. They are easy to create with ammonia-free direct colour on pre-lightened hair.

Nails had a huge season. The trends below appeared again and again across international beauty and nail press, and every shade we match them with is from the new Gelish Color Plus range.
Nail trend 1: what are jelly nails?

Glazed, glossy and sheer. Jelly nails are translucent, juicy-looking colour, while milky nails use soft, creamy whites and pinks instead of opaque nudes. Both look healthy and expensive.
Nail trend 2: is chrome still trending?

Very much so. Chrome has evolved from bold mirror finishes to soft "invisible" chrome over natural shades, plus rose gold, champagne, silver and grey metallics. It is also one of the easiest add-on services to sell.
Nail trend 3: juicy brights and sunset ombre

Reds are juicier and brighter: cherry, tangerine, coral and hot magenta, with neons for the boldest clients. Sunset and aura gradients, fading one colour into another, are the art trend of the season.
Nail trend 4: cool greens and sea-glass blues

Pistachio, matcha, mint, sea glass and aqua bring a fresh, modern feel, and look especially good on toes for the beach.
Nail trend 5: short, healthy nails

Clients are falling back in love with shorter, square shapes and healthy-looking natural nails. Gentle prep, a strong base and daily cuticle oil make it possible.
Nail trend 6: lilac and butter yellow, the new neutrals
Soft lilac and mauve are being called the latest neutral, and butter yellow is making a comeback, paired with pastel gingham, citrus and fruit nail art. Hand-painted daisies and loose floral brushstrokes complete the summer look.
